If you are planning sailing to the North-East of Scotland in 2008, please give us a call or e-mail, we will be pleased to answer any questions you may have. You will be made very welcome at Whitehills. Next year's Whitehills Sailing Regatta will be held on the 9th/10th August 2008.
Whitehills Sailing Regatta and Barbecue 18th/19th August 07 was a resounding success. Two races were held in a freshening easterly wind followed in the evening by a barbecue, where a good time was had by all in spite of heavy rain. Results are below, with the skippers of the first three boats in each race receiving a 70cl bottle of specially commissioned whisky with Whitehills Marina labels, in addition all participating boats received a miniature of the same whisky, all courtesy of Whitehills Harbour Commissioners. The two races were then combined to give the overall results for the main prizes. First :- Volente, skipper Michael Thomson, who received a trophy donated by Downies of Whitehills Second :- Krazee Horse, skipper John Sellar, who received the Margaret & James Forbes memorial cup, donated by James Forbes jnr. Third :- Sealgair, skipper Adrian Peters, who received the Bill Jesson memorial cup, donated by David & Elaine Harding. All three also received a £50 Gael Force voucher donated by Varis Engineering Ltd. of Forres, who recently installed our new access bridge and pontoons in the outer basin.
Whitehills Harbour Commissioners would like to thank all who took part in making the inaugural Whitehills Regatta such a success. Good news ! No more climbing up a ladder from the visitors pontoon in the outer basin as an access bridge is now in place. A further 20 metres of new pontoon has been added to the existing 36 metres of pontoon which has been in place for the last two years. Below are two views of the new bridge and pontoons.
Would any boat-owners intending visiting the North-East of Scotland in 2008, please ignore the 2007 Sail Scotland brochure which states there is only pontoons at Whitehills. As can be seen on this website there are full marina facilities. There are now two establishments in the village serving excellent meals, both are just a short walk from the marina, the Seafield Arms Hotel, and just opened this year, the Cutty bar and restaurant. Wi-Fi internet access now available from harbourmaster, £2 for access code Diesel can now be delivered direct by hose to boats from new fuel berth alongside wall at old fishmarket. 3rd September 2004, our biggest visitor yet on the pontoon, the 20 metre 'Northern Light'
